The Answers You Need
SO I WANT TO BUY YOUR TERRAIN BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT TO ORDER...
We get it. The time has come to deliver premium terrain to your table top and your gaming group. But it's so confusing! What packs, expansions or add-ons do I need to bring our Gloomhaven campaign to life? Allow us to help by walking you through your options...
Most customers begin by purchasing the Dungeon Pack. This set comes with all the walls, doors, traps, and floor types (four floor themes - Dungeon Stone, Cave Stone, Outdoor and Wood) you need to faithfully recreate any scenario from the Gloomhaven core campaign. This is by far our most popular starting point for new customers.
Additionally, if you want even more bling for your tabletop and dungeon walls aren't enough, you can purchase one or more of our Expansions - Cave, Outdoor or Indoor. These sets come with additional cave/outdoor/indoor-themed walls, doors, and traps to faithfully recreate all core Gloomhaven scenarios. You can also purchase these expansion sets as their own complete pack - the Cave Pack, Outdoor Pack and Indoor Pack, which include the aforementioned four floor types and thereby makes it a stand-alone set.
So by now you're hopefully starting to see how our terrain inventory works - all you need is a themed Pack of your choice to get started, as just one of these will allow you to build any of the 95 core Gloomhaven scenarios. You then have the option to add any of the other three themed Expansions if you want to have greater set-up options to add variety to the theme of your layouts.
We also offer a Wooden Bridge Add-On set, which allows you to create rope bridge expanses in your builds, which adds even more impact to the cave theme and serves as an amazing centrepiece of your terrain layout.
Further elements we offer to enhance your gaming experience include Terrain Risers, which allow you to add vertical height to your terrain builds. This adds an extra layer of immersion and visual interest to your terrain layout. These Risers are particularly relevant to the Wooden Bridge Add-On - a rickety old log bridge with rope handrails traversing the huge chasm you have engineered into your layout is something to behold!
Finally, if you're wanting to replace all the tokens to the game in addition to map tiles and walls, we have recently released the first of several Overlay Packs, the first being our Cavern Overlay Pack. This pack comes with 30 pieces of resin terrain pieces such as rock columns, stalagmites, boulders, and dragon nests which you can use on top of your terrain to really complete the 3D experience.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
TST is a two-person operation. We are both avid Gloomhaven and tabletop fans, so your terrain is being made BY gamers, FOR gamers. One half of the operation is based in Salt Lake City, USA, with the other operating out of Brisbane, Australia. We are both regulars on the Gloomhaven Facebook page and YouTube, and have posted a lot of content showcasing our own personal terrain builds. If you review the Gloomhaven Facebook group, Reddit and YouTube for Lambo's Nerdery and Jay Carter (Facebook)/Bravo Gaming (YouTube) you can check out some of our previous work.
WILL THE TERRAIN PACKS INCLUDE ITEMS COMPATIBLE WITH THE GLOOMHAVEN OVERLAY TILES AND EXTRA DETAIL PIECES LIKE BARRELS, FURNITURE ETC?
Our packs contain only what is listed as per the product information, which in term of overlay tiles, constitutes the doors and traps. However, we have recently added a cave-themed upgrade pack that contains terrain pieces such as boulders, stalagmites, nests etc. We will continue to add themed overlay packs to our product range as we build our inventory of designs. We intend on offering a dungeon furniture themed pack (chests, barrels, tables etc) and more so watch this space!
WILL YOU BE SELLING THE .STL FILES YOU USE TO PRINT YOUR TERRAIN?
Yes! We ran a Kickstarter to launch our digital files, which finished May 2021. Moving forward from the Kickstarter, our 3D print files will be available for purchase via our webstore under 'Digital Terrain Files'.
WHO ACTUALLY MAKES AND PAINTS THE TERRAIN?
We do! We are not outsourcing the terrain production - it is not coming from China. Your terrain will be 3D printed and hand painted exclusively by the two owner operators so you can rest assured that quality and attention to detail will be guaranteed. We pride ourselves on our terrain!
WHAT TYPE OF 3D PRINTERS ARE USED?
TST use well-tuned FDM printers and quality PLA+ filament (Hatchbox and 3D Fillies, the latter a reputable Australian brand). Printers used are Creality Ender 3s and CR-6 SEs. For our statue and overlay packs, we use Epax and Creality resin printers to best capture the detail featured in these pieces.
IS YOUR TERRAIN MAGNETIZED?
No. But if you wanted to make it magnetized, you could certainly add your own quite easily if you prefer, such as adhesive strip magnets to the underside of the hexes. We also included a stretch goal in our recent digital file Kickstarter which will see magnetised versions of our terrain available digitally later in 2021.
IS TST OFFICIALLY LICENSED WITH CEPHALOFAIR GAMES?
No. We do not currently have an official license with Cephalofair Games. Whilst our terrain is made by avid Gloomhaven fans and is compatible in every way with Gloomhaven, it is just as well-suited to a host of other tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Warhammer Shadespire, or any other hex-based system. As terrain that does not feature any specific IP and is designed for compatibility with, and not exclusively for, multiple game systems, no official license is required.
DO YOU ACCEPT ONE-OFF COMMISSION REQUESTS?
Whilst our focus is on supplying our standardized terrain packs, we are always open to receiving one-off commission requests which we will consider. Please email info@talismansabreterrain.com with any such requests.
DO YOU SELL, OR HAVE PLANS TO SELL, 3D PRINTED MINIATURES?

WHAT’S WITH THE NAME?
Talisman Sabre comes from Operation Talisman Sabre, a biennial joint military exercise between Australia and USA. With the two halves of TST being in USA and Australia, naming ourselves after some combined wargames seemed only fitting! 😊
FROSTHAVEN?
We are definitely planning on offering a terrain pack specifically for Frosthaven. However, we are unable to say when it might be that this pack is released. Like all of you, we are eagerly awaiting more information about Frosthaven. Once we have a handle on scenario sizes and what terrain and overlay elements will feature, we can then design and deliver a Frosthaven terrain set to allow maximum immersion in what will undoubtedly be another smash hit gaming experience.
